Young Drivers Are Going Online To Find Affordable Car Insurance
In a recent 2autoinsurance.com survey of 200 young people between the ages of 18-24, we found that the majority of young drivers are utilizing the web when they shop for car insurance. As we inquired with students at several different California college campuses it became quite clear that this is by far the most popular way to shop for a new policy amongst this specific age group.
On our first stop at Chaffey Community College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, we surveyed about 25 different youngsters and almost all of them said that they preferred to go online when they were looking for affordable coverage. “With school and work taking up most of my time it made sense for me to buy car insurance online.” Said Jeremiah Z. from Ontario, CA. This was the consensus with most of the students that took our survey. Others were quick to point out that they use the web for almost every aspect of their life and when they are shopping for item or service they go online first to see how much it will cost. One young man even showed us how he can use his cell phone to go online and get comparisons in between classes or while having lunch.
One issue that seemed to come up a lot while talking to different young people was the high price of insuring a vehicle when you are a new driver with little or no experience. Danielle C. of Los Angeles said “My parents tried to add me to their insurance policy but they’re price went way up so they said I had to find my own insurance”. This will often be the case when mom and dad try adding their son or daughter on to their existing policy because many companies that offer low rates to older more experienced drivers do not want to insure the younger drivers because they consider them to be a high risk. By going online and comparing car insurance quotes from several different companies youngsters can quickly find which carriers are affordable for them. In fact many people that we talked to also mentioned that their parents were experiencing difficult times due to the economy and had requested that they get their own coverage plan.
